Platak
is
an excursion and winter resort, winter sports centre on the
coastal slopes of the Snjeznik massif, 26 km northeast of Rijeka;
elevation 1,111 m. The mean maximum thickness of the snow cover on
Platak attains 160 cm, and the snow-cap in the northern part lasts
until May. There are 6 ski lifts on Platak, with a total capacity
of 1,342 skiers per hour, while the courses for cross-country
skiing have a total length of around 10 km. In summer, Platak
offers good camping and hiking opportunities as well as beautiful
vista points. The most famous routes are Gornje Jelenje - Platak
(10 km), Kamenjak - Platak (1 h 30 min). The starting point for
tours to the peaks of Snjeznik (1 h 15 min) and Risnjak over
Snjeznik (3 hrs). |
